"We are a quarterly print and digital magazine dedicated to reshaping society’s ideas of what “women’s things” are. We are interested in stories that never get told: educational, emotional and inspirational. We are finding and highlighting the women who are making history today. "
--A Women's Thing I am pleased to have a new article in this wonderful, homegrown, commercial-free magazine: A Women's Thing. "Commodifying the Body" is a rambling investigation of the body as commerce: From Sex Work to Surrogate birthing. *One mistake I wish to correct in the article is the statement of sale-able genetic material. Egg and sperm donors are not actually allowed to sell their g.m, as I wrote. I just learned from my lesbian parent-friends that it's the time and effort that the donors are being compensated for...and that's why they are called donors--not salespersons. One of those side stepping legal explanations that induce instant eye-rolling.
