DONATE TO HELP KEEP NEW WOMEN SPACE OPEN!! There are so few spaces that are accessible and affordable for programming by and for the queer, non-binary, POC, trans, womxn communities. This is a place dear to my heart and work. Please consider donating.
From NWS leaders:
Eva and Sage here, the new guardians of New Women Space—a community space for programming, co-working, and gatherings for serving the greater community. NWS was first dreamed up as a temporary pop-up site, founded by Melissa Wong and Sandy Hong back in the summer of 2016 in response to Donald Trump’s election. What they didn't know at the time was their simple yet ambitious idea would soon turn into a much needed community resource: a place to find each other and build each other up. This isn’t your luxury, members-only club, but rather a space that’s an accessible, supportive, and safe environment to inspire and create economic opportunity. Since 2016, the space has seen nearly 600 unique gatherings take place, all created and led by self-identified women, trans, non-binary, intersex and gender nonconforming individuals from NYC and beyond. This space doesn’t come without it’s challenges–like being targets of hate crimes. In 2016, the word CUNT was graffitied on our front door 7 times. So naturally, we turned it into a shirt – 10% of every shirt goes to RAINN, an anti-sexual violence organization. To continue our mission in providing an affordable space for programming we need your help. Funds collected will help New Women Space: 1. Stay Open 2. Maintain & Upgrade Space 3. Expand Programming NWS was created for the community, and now we need our community’s help to continue our service. Donate and tell your friends, family, co-workers, followers, that guy at the bodega…everyone. Join the campaign by posting one of our pre-made graphics, too! We are making New Women Space better than ever.
